Don`t burn that firewood build a structure with it.
As you can see below it is a small piece of firewood. This building lives on the layout of Andy Blatchley`s Mountain Gorge Railroad. This building is made out of a single piece of firewood that I grabbed out of Andy’s wood box and thought this will do nicely, Andy thought I was nuts. "What the heck are you doing." "Just wait you’ll see." Using his band saw I slowly started to cut it down to size until I got to the height and width that I desired. Then I just needed to figure out how much pitch I wanted on the roof to cut it down to size. Applying the walls I just held the siding up to the wood block and traced out the walls then cut them to size. Before I did any cutting to my blanks, I glued a piece of paper to the back so when I started cutting the doors and windows out the wood would not split on me. When the paper backing was dry, I started from one side and worked my way around the block, I overlapped the corners so there would be no seams showing. I used two different styles of wood siding, both the bottom and the top are from Northeastern Scale Lumber, the bottom is Board Batten and the second floor is clapboard siding. You can cut the doors and windows out and put them in place, paint the block black where the window openings are before you glue the siding on. The roof is just card stock from used note pads that I save. I painted both sides of the roof to seal the edges so they will not curl up on me when I start to add the roofing. I have finished with the building. I named it B&D Taxidermy. I used my graphics program to make the sign and printed it out using peal and stick paper. I used brass wire to hang the sign because it was easier to soder. The roof is Campbell shingles. I applied a row then I would give it a dry brush of grey, then added the next row and so on. It will look like cider roofing. I used a pencil on some of the shakes for just a little different contrast.
